Mairi Maclean

I qualified from The University of Dundee in 1991 and I have been practicing in East Kilbride since 1993. Since joining Avondale Dental Practice in 2001, I have built a team that brings to the community a Dental Practice with the latest technology and attitude for delivering dental care to suit all our different lifestyle’s needs & wants going forward.

I am a passionate proponent of Prevention of Dental Disease and to this end promote the importance of Dental Hygiene and Therapy for the general health and well being of all our patients. I have been providing facial aesthetics in the practice for the last 10 years, having
under taken extensive training in this field along with other cosmetic procedures such as “smile design”, tooth whitening, veneers and crown & bridge work.

Liam McLaughlin

I qualified from the University of Glasgow in 2013 and joined Avondale in August 2015. Since then, I have completed the MFDS Qualification and gained membership to the Royal College of Surgeons in Glasgow. I completed my Postgraduate Certification to place dental implants in 2017 and have since worked under the mentorship of several of the UK’s most highly regarded Implant Dentists.

I have a keen interest in Cosmetic Dentistry, and I am passionate about providing patients with natural and aesthetically pleasing smile makeovers. As an accredited Invisalign provider, I use clear orthodontic aligners to straighten teeth combined with the latest digital technology- intraoral scanning allows me to carry out your treatment impression-free!

David Padden

dentist

I qualified from the University of Glasgow in 2016 and have been practicing dentistry in Glasgow ever since. I have also passed the post-graduate examination MFDS and I’m a member of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Glasgow.

I joined Avondale Dental Practice at the beginning of February 2020 and enjoy providing a friendly, stress-free experience for all my patients.

I have undertaken further training in many aspects of dentistry and I have a particular interest in the restoration of teeth with tooth-coloured fillings and saving teeth with endodontic treatments.

I will always listen to my patients and provide the necessary treatment that will suit their needs, improve their oral health and give them confidence in their smile.
Out-with the dental surgery, you will likely find me in the gym or on the golf course.

Natalie Wilson Avondale

Natalie Wilson

dentist

I qualified from the University of Glasgow Dental School in 2015 and have been enjoying providing a range of NHS and private dental treatments since.

In 2018 I achieved the Membership of the Joint Dental Faculties (MJDF) diploma and was awarded membership with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of England.  I was later invited to assist the College with the exam preparation of further delegates, and I enjoy helping others continue their professional development.

I have considerable experience working with nervous patients, and very much enjoy helping them overcome their dental fears.  It is very important to me that my patients feel as comfortable as possible with their dental treatment, and I am currently undertaking additional training to be able to provide intravenous sedation to further support anxious patients with their treatment.

I was awarded the Certificate of Enhanced Skills Practitioner in Domiciliary Care at the beginning of 2020 before joining the team at Avondale Dental Practice.

As well as dental health, I am also very passionate about skin health. I provide a wide range of treatments, including anti-wrinkle injections, skin boosters, dermal fillers and chemical peels. I am also fortunate enough to have recently completed the ZO core training which allowed me to be approved as an authorised provider of ZO Skin Health products.

Out with dentistry, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, travelling, and walking my wonderful rescue dog Basil.

Lynsey Cavanagh

Hygienist

I qualified as a Dental Hygienist from Glasgow Dental Hospital & School in 2004. Since then, I have gained a wealth of experience working in Dental Practices in the West of Scotland.

I was delighted to be offered the opportunity to join the team at Avondale following my return from maternity leave.

I enjoy meeting new people and also developing strong relationships with patients. It is important for me to ensure that patients feel comfortable and that they have a positive professional experience at every hygienist visit.

In my free time I enjoy spending time with family and friends.

dONNY Black

practice manager

I grew up in Stornoway and went on to the University of Glasgow many, many years ago.  After graduating with a BSc in Genetics I did a PhD in Cambridge. In 1993 I returned to Glasgow and established the Cancer Genetics Laboratory at the Beatson Institute for Cancer Research, which I ran for 12 years.  During my research career I published over 100 research papers and played a pivotal role in the discovery and understanding of the BRCA1 breast-cancer susceptibility gene.

In 2005 it was time for a career-change and I’ve been the Practice Manager at Avondale ever since.  This is a multi-faceted role, including managing staff and finances, trouble-shooting issues with IT and dental equipment, clearing leaves and snow; and dealing with any other issues which may arise.
